Distribution of Long Lasting Insecticide Nets (LLINs) to Pregnant Women in Mozambique through the health system
Brief Project Description
Malaria is the largest single cause of sickness and death in Mozambique which seriously affects people's health and which is considered to be an impediment to economic development. Therefore, MISAU is trying to reduce this burden by providing Indoor Residual House Spraying (IRS) in urban and Maputo province and Long Lasting Insecticide Nets (LLINs) in other provinces. In order to support MISAU's effort, Japan will procure 605,000 of LLINs for the population of 5 provinces; Cabo Delgado, Nampula, Manica, Sofala, Ihambane) especially targeting pregnant women and children under 5 year-old. The number of direct beneficiary is estimated to be 1,210,000.
