Enhancing HIV Programmes
Brief Project Description
OUTPT 1: Capacity of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Private Sector Institutions to support the national response to HIV strengthened. ACTIVITIES: a)Support the production of Child-to-Child Radio Programs in Community Radios; b)Train Community Radios’ staff in management, HIV prevention and Child Rights; c)Organize debates on HIV and AIDS, public health, hygiene, good sanitation practices & basic education; d)Establish clubs with mini-libraries as part of the Child-to-Child Media Programmes, in order to leverage knowledge on child rights and human right in general; e)Support the elaboration of educative materials that will serve as supporting communication tools for the counseling work done by the health workers in PMTCT sites; f)Disseminate IEC materials (poster and booklets) in PMTCT sites; g)Support the functioning of Positive Mothers groups, linked to the Health Units as part of the support to the HIV-positive pregnant women in adhering to the PMTCT program. OUTPUT 2: National and local initiatives in the area of communication and advocacy for prevention, treatment, and mitigation of the effects of HIV and AIDS reinforced. ACTIVITIES: a) Organize a workshop to collect and disseminate civil society HIV/AIDS best practices as part of the exchange of learning experiences; b)Organize two training workshops to build the capacity of 10 civil society organizations to develop and implement proposals meeting NAC standards to access HIV/AIDS funding and monitor and evaluate HIV/AIDS programmes; c)Organize a national seminar for private sector organizations to exchange experiences and discuss the impact of workplace initiatives; d)Disseminate the Three HIV/AIDS Workplace programme Toolkits OUTPUT 3: National Tracking, Monitoring and Evaluation systems developed. ACTIVITIES: a)Support thematic workshops to develop, cost and validate a national M&E Operational Plan; b)Organize a workshop to build capacity of NAC provincial staff to develop a mechanism to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the National HIV Strategic Framework Plan of Action (POA); c)Organize two Regional capacity-building workshops to train Provincial AIDS resource tracking teams; d)Provide technical assistance to facilitate provincial data analyses of resource flows; e)Support technical assistance to collate provincial reports into an aggregated National AIDS Expenditure report.
