- RURAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORK IMPROVEMENT - PHASE II; Commitment 2: TELVENT CONTRACT- SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF RURAL TELECOM. NETWORKS IN THE PROVINCES OF GAZA & INHAMBANE. Overall objective: grant access to basic telephony services to the majority of rural inhabitants. Purpose: provide rural communities of the Provinces of Gaza and Inhambane not covered under Phase I of the project, with a reliable rural telecommunication system, which will provide telephone services between districts and provincial capitals and thus access to the national network. Results: provision of basic telecommunications facilities for the 41 localities of Gaza and Inhambane provinces designed to allow successive expansions to satisfy the foreseen demand in ten years time. The staff will be able to maintain telecommunication equipment and infrastructure. Main activities: Supply and install all the necessary equipment for the provision of the basic telecommunication facilities in the localities of the provinces of Gaza and Inhambane; Guarantee the best performance along the several phases of project implementation, namely the equipment and structures construction and finally the installation and testing; Training of personnel in installation, operation and maintenance of the radio and power system as well as the supporting structures.
