- Capacity Development Support to DNEAP/MPD-Macro Economic and Poverty Analysis
- Brief Project Description
- The submitted project 'Support for Capacity Development at the National Directorate for Studies and Policy Analysis (DNEAP) at the Ministry of Planning and Development (MPD)is inteded to improve macroeconomic management in Mozambique. The purpose of the project is to improve the capabilities and practices within DNEAP in order to pursue sound and sustainable socio-economic policies, fostering macroeconomic stability, economic growth and poverty reduction. The project addresses a main weakness in the Mozambican Public Finance Management (PFM)process, namely the lack of skills in economic policy analysis and policy making, and is in line with a major objective of strengthening policy formulation capacity defined in the Poverty reduction Strategy (PARPA II).' The project provides: 1) technical assistance to analyze, assess and formulate financial and economic policies; and 2) promotes the institutional development of DNEAP by increasing its capacity through long-term training, on the job training and establishment of analytical tools and systems.
