- Support to smallholder cassava producion and processing to counter soaring food prices
- Brief Project Description
- This project seeks to increase food security and nutrition for the rural and urban poor through sustainable cassava value chain interventions to contribute towards alleviating the effects of soaring food prices. This will be done through boosting cassava production, productivity, processing, marketing and utilization of cassava products with the involvement of government and privat stakeholders. This will strengthen rural economies and boost cassava farmers´incomes by converting more of the relatively low-cost raw material into higher-valued food products (e.g. flour, starchs, etc.) allowing cassava production to play an important role in poverty reduction in the country. Activities will be implemented in Zambezia Province.
