- Brief Project Description
- The programme "Local Climate Adaptive Living Facility - LoCAL" is since 2011 being run by UNCDF (the UN Capital Development Fund) at global level, with Swedish support via Sida, and since 2015 in a pilot phase in Mozambique's Gaza province. The propose upscaling phase in the provinces Gaza and Inhambane during 2018-2023, with a total budget of 138,2 MSEK (out of which 113,1 from SIda/ the Embassy in Maputo), aims to strengthen capacity of national and local authorities to handle climate financing and implement climate adaptation actions as identified in already existing local adaptation plans. Ultimately, the vulnerability of the rural population to climate change will be reduced. The investment grants, many of them addressing food production and water supply, are channelled through the Government's systems, and are performance-based.
