- Breve Descrição
- The goal of the industrial sector in Mozambique is to create a modern and competitive sector that will lead economic growth, employment creation, and thus contribute to the Government’s poverty alleviation objectives. The objective of the project is to support the development of small and medium-scale enterprises in Mozambique by enhancing their access to medium to long-term finance. In making resources available to eligible SMSEs, the project will contribute to achieving the sector goal of creating a modern and competitive industrial sector. The project will also assist in preserving existing jobs as well as in generating new ones through the expansion of the activities of benefiting firms, thereby contributing to poverty alleviation in the country. Up to 250 SMSEs are expected to be financed under the project. The project will be focused on SMSEs that meet the following eligibility criteria: i) No outstanding loans in default within the financial system. ii) Total assets of not more than UA 1 million, while size of sub-loans will not be more than US$ 200,000. iii) Owner’s equity contribution to the project shall not be less than 20% of total investment costs. iv) The investment should be technically feasible, financially and economically viable, and environmentally sustainable. v) The investment should lead to the creation and/or sustenance of employment opportunities.
